Congratulations to the Class of 2018!

All of us here would like to congratulate our small but mighty class of 2018.  All 3 of this year’s graduates are high achievers who are college bound:

  • Dylan Damon is a Presidential Education Award winner.  He is currently working in the Golf Industry and will be studying at Central Arizona College.
  • Kaymin Edgington is a Presidential Education Award winner and Salutatorian.  Kaymin is interested in Health Sciences and will be studying at Central Arizona College.
  • Shaeli McAlister is a Presidential Education Award winner and Valedictorian.  Shaeli will be studying at Central Arizona College to work toward becoming a Surgical Assistant.

We are so proud of our graduates and wish them all success in the future!

Arizona has approved long delayed increases in teacher salaries.  As you can imagine, this increase is more complicated than it sounds given the variety of situations all across the state.  The increase is attached to enrollments, resulting in different scenarios when comparing large schools to small schools.  SDS is a small school, so enrollment impacts instructors more directly than in a large school.  In 2017-18, the average base salary for all teachers was $45,000.  In 2018-19 the average base salary is projected to be lower than this.  This decrease is predicated on the fact that any salaries are dictated by variations in enrollment.  Within this reality, at SDS we are committed to maintaining our instructors’ salaries at the highest possible level.  Our children represent the future, and we value teachers as important partners to parents as we all  try to create a positive and constructive influence on how our children develop.
